Botanical Name
LAGERSTROEMIA indica 'Delta Blush'
Plant Common Name
Crapemyrtle, Delta Blush Crapemyrtle
General Description
Descended from a species of crapemyrtle native to China and Korea, ‘Delta Blush’ is a dwarf deciduous shrub with green leaves and pinkish blossoms. The flowers are gathered into loose showy clusters on branch tips. Bloom can begin as early as mid to late spring, is profuse in early summer and, if the first clusters are removed when spent, may continue more lightly until frost. In fall, the leaves change from green to an array of yellows and oranges.
Like other crapemyrtles, ‘Delta Blush’ tolerates heat, drought, and any well-drained soil that is not highly alkaline. Adequate moisture, especially as plants begin to flower, ensures the best growth and bloom. Perfect if planted en masse in foundation beds or in the foreground in mixed borders or rock gardens, 'Delta Blush' is a heavy-blooming shrub that should definitely be added to all warm-climate gardens.
