Botanical Name
LAGERSTROEMIA indica( PETITE™ SERIES)
Plant Common Name
Dwarf Crapemyrtle
General Description
The Petite Series is a collection of dwarf crapemyrtles, all maturing to about chest height, with flower colors ranging from white and yellow to pink and red. They are heat-loving deciduous shrubs that flower at varying times in mid to late summer, often lingering into autumn. Their fall foliage is typically golden yellow to orange-red.
Like most crapemyrtles, those in the Petite Series tolerate a wide range of soils, if well-drained, and grow best in sunny locations. Powdery mildew (a leaf disease)can be a problem. It helps to leave room around the plant for air to move and dry the leaves. This series offers shrubs for the mixed border or building foundation, and provides flowers in summer, when other plants have the blah's.
