Crapemyrtle, Pink Velour™ Crapemyrtle
General Description
Pink Velour™ crapemyrtle is a heat-loving, large shrub with an attractive arching to fountain-shaped habit. It originates from eastern Asia and has glossy dark green leaves that are red-hued when they first emerge, become dark green with purplish tinrs and then turn shades of rusty orange and brown in the fall. In summer it bears many large clusters of crinkly, vibrant pink flowers at its branch tips rising from reddish buds. Mature plants have pretty exfoliating bark.
Crapemyrtle is tolerant of a wide range of well-drained soils and grows best in hot sunny locations. Pink Velour™ is highly resistant to powdery mildew. Grow this exceptional cultivar as a hedge or screen, in mixed borders or as a foundation focal plant at building corners or in larger beds.
