LAMIUM maculatum 'Pink Pewter'

Image of Lamium maculatum 'Pink Pewter'

Yoder Brothers

Family

Lamiaceae

Botanical Name

LAMIUM maculatum 'Pink Pewter'

Plant Common Name

Spotted Deadnettle

General Description

Spotted deadnettle is a low, spreading, perennial groundcover that is highly useful because it thrives in all degrees of shade. The cultivar 'Pink Pewter' is distinctive for its variegated leaves, which are silvery gray-green with darker gray-green edges, and its short vertical clusters of clear pink flowers that appear in late spring.

Deadnettle grows best in part sun to shade and fertile soil with average drainage. Unlike some members of the mint family, it spreads modestly, with the long, prostrate stems rooting as they wander. To keep a planting in bounds pull up the stems, roots and all, from unwanted areas. Plant this herbaceous groundcover in any shaded spot where light lush foliage is desired.
