Fringed Lavender
Airy and wonderfully fragrant, fringed lavender is beautiful when grown in the garden. Native to the Mediterranean, this evergreen, shrubby perennial or shrub is both heat and drought tolerant. It has an upright, bushy habit and is densely covered with fine, scalloped leaves of green to gray-green. In the summer it produces lightly fragrant spikes of small lavender flowers accented by showy lavender-blue bracts.
Plant fringed lavender in sites with full sun and perfectly drained soil. Its flowers have been used in perfumes, poultices and potpourris for centuries, so this evergreen is a staple plant for the herb garden. Containers and sunny beds and borders are also ideal for this bee and butterfly magnet.
