MAURANTHEMUM paludosum 'Snowland'
Annual Chrysanthemum, Mini Marguerite, Snowland Annual Chrysanthemum
Native to Portugal, Spain and the Balearic Islands, paludosum daisy is a low, bushy, easy to grow annual that also goes by the names mini-Marguerite or mini-Shasta daisy. Atypically large snow-white daisies top the mounded lacy foliage of the cultivar 'Snowland.'
Germinating 2 to 3 weeks after a shallow sowing, this cool-season annual puts forth a dense low-growing clump of green jaggedly toothed leaves. In early summer, upright leafy stems are crowned with small white daisies with deep yellow centers. Each stem bears a single daisy.
Available as seed or as transplants, paludosum daisy flowers best in full sun and moderately rich well-drained soil. It prefers cooler temperatures and is grown as a fall, winter, or early spring annual in warmer regions. In some cool environments it may grow and flower for a couple of years. Somewhat drought tolerant, it grows and flowers best with regular applications of water. Deadheading will prolong flowering. Use Mauranthemum paludosum in sunny beds, borders and containers.
