Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'
Eulalia, Japanese Silvergrass, Zebra Silvergrass
What an striking ornamental grass. Zebra eulalia forms dense clumps of long, wide arching blades. These are striped with irregular horizontal bands of pale yellow and medium green. In the late summer to fall plants produce many tall, upright stems topped with feathery, copper-hued plumes that pale, soften and curl as they dry. These stand above the foliage and remain attractive throughout winter.
Japanese silvergrass prefers full sun and tolerates a wide range of moderately drained soils. Plants form substantial clumps that should be cut to the ground in the spring and divided every three years. These may require staking and have been known to self sow.
Mass zebra eulalia as a privacy screen or plant it in a large mixed beds and borders.
