General Description
Miscanthus are a group of about 15 species of grasses native to Africa and Asia. They are tropical or subtropical grasses that are clump forming, may reach up to 12 feet tall,5 feet wide, have a medium green leaf with a prominent white colored mid-rib. The tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, and drought. Some species are used for ornamental plantings as accent plants in the landscape, as a screen, as a hedge, in pots, and in dried flower arrangements. Some species are known to product large amounts of biomass that is used as a biofuel.
