Syngenta

Family

Geraniaceae

Botanical Name

PELARGONIUM 'Amri Crared'( AMERICANA™ CRANBERRY RED, AMERICANA™ SERIES) PPAF

Plant Common Name

Americana™ Cranberry Red Geranium, Zonal Geranium

General Description

This pretty zonal geranium is an All-American treat. Americana™ Cranberry Red produces velvety bright red flowers when temperatures are warm. These beauties have robust, upright, well-branched habits as well as pretty scalloped leaves in addition to huge clusters of semi-double flowers. Plants will bloom continuously if well-maintained and can tolerate summertime heat better than average zonal geraniums. This hybrid was introduced by Goldsmith Seeds.

These tender perennials have fragrant, somewhat fleshy evergreen leaves that are lobed and crisp medium green and sometimes have zonation patterns. Their showy flowers are semi-double and borne in big terminal clusters.

Vigorous and easy to grow, pelargoniums prefer full to partial sun and average to fertile soil that drains well. Overwatering can result in root or crown rot. Most hybrids are everblooming and require regular deadheading for best appearance and flower production. They can be planted in mixed beds and borders, containers or hanging baskets.

Zonal geraniums will rot and deteriorate in the humidity and rains of sub-tropical to tropical rainy seasons. It’s better to grow them in areas where growing temperatures mild and conditions drier.
