General Description

Americana™ Pink Splash zonal geranium produces lavender-pink blossoms with magenta markings in rounded clusters when temperatures are warm. Having an robust, upright but well-branching habit, pretty scalloped leaves and huge clusters of semi-double (extra petaled) flowers, it will bloom continuously if well-maintained, especially if deadheaded. It tolerates oppressive summertime heat quite well, more so than the typical florist geranium. The hybrid Americana™ Series was introduced by Goldsmith Seeds and are usually grown as summertime annuals.

This tender perennial has fragrant, somewhat fleshy evergreen leaves that are medium to bright green, rarely with a faint zonation pattern (circular banding). The showy flowers are semi-double and borne in big terminal clusters on upright, slender stems and will attract butterflies and an occasional hummingbird.

Vigorous and easy to grow, Americana™ Series zonal geraniums grow best in full to partial sun and average to fertile soil that drains well. Overwatering can result in root or crown rot. These hybrids are everblooming and require regular deadheading for best appearance and flower production. They can be planted in mixed beds and borders, containers or hanging baskets. Although frost-tender, they will rot and deteriorate in the humidity and rains in the tropical rainy season, therefore in such regions grow them in the winter dry season.
