Syngenta

Family

Geraniaceae

Botanical Name

Pelargonium 'Calypso'

Plant Common Name

Calypso Zonal Geranium, Zonal Geranium

General Description

The large flower clusters of ‘Calypso’ are deepest lavender-pink and will bloom continuously with good care. The satiny blooms of this high-performing Syngenta introduction shine above the well-branched plants.

Pelargoniums are tender perennials with fragrant, somewhat fleshy evergreen leaves that are lobed and crisp medium green. Their colorful showy flowers and borne in big terminal clusters. Those of ‘Calypso’ are single and deepest lavender pink. Deadhead flowers once spent to keep plants blooming vigorously.

Robust and easy to grow, zonal geraniums prefer full to partial sun and average to fertile soil that drains well. Overwatering can result in root or crown rot. Most hybrids are everblooming and require regular deadheading for best appearance and flower production. They can be planted in mixed beds and borders, containers or hanging baskets.

Zonal geraniums rot and deteriorate where summers are excessively hot and humid, so refrain from planting them where these weather conditions prevail.
