Plant Common Name
Patriot White Zonal Geranium, Semi-double Zonal Geranium, Zonal Geranium
General Description
Large clusters of clear white flowers grace the high-performing zonal geranium, 'Patriot White.'
An exceptional series of zonal geraniums introduced by Oglevee, Patriot geraniums are self-branching, have mounded habits and large clusters of flowers. The early-flowering plants are also known for their good tolerance to hot, wet summertime weather.
Pelargoniums are tender perennials with fragrant, somewhat fleshy evergreen leaves that are lobed and crisp medium green, sometimes with colorful patterns. Their colorful showy flowers and borne in big terminal clusters. Deadhead flowers once spent to keep plants blooming vigorously.
Vigorous and easy to grow, zonal geraniums prefer full to partial sun and average to fertile soil that drains well. Overwatering can result in root or crown rot. Most hybrids are everblooming and require regular deadheading for best appearance and flower production. They can be planted in mixed beds and borders, containers or hanging baskets.
Zonal geraniums will rot and deteriorate in the humidity and rains of sub-tropical or tropical rainy seasons. Members of the Patriot Series are better adapted to these conditions but they still grow better in areas that are milder and drier.
