Talk about a butterfly magnet for summertime! The Bahamas White Egyptian starcluster is a tropical, shrubby, evergreen perennial that is often grown as an annual in temperate climates. Regarded for is upright, mounding plants with sturdy stems that hold up well to pounding thunderstorm rains, it has large flower clusters that don't fade in intense sunshine. This everblooming North African native has dark green, lance-shaped leaves and bears many large clusters of small tubular, star-shaped flowers that are either clear white. Deadhead plants regularly to encourage continued bloom, but the shorter days of winter often diminishes any flowering.
Heat and drought tolerant once established, Egyptian starcluster needs full to part sun and fertile soil with good drainage. It is vigorous, easy to grow and works well in sunny borders, butterfly gardens or container plantings.
