PLATYCODON grandiflorus 'Astra Blue'( ASTRA SERIES)
Astra Blue Balloon Flower, Balloon Flower
Balloon flower is an herbaceous perennial that is named for its large, unopened, balloon-shaped flower buds. The cultivar ‘Astra Blue’ is a uniform dwarf that flowers profusely. From midsummer to fall, many broad, bell-shaped flowers of violet-blue appear. These contrast nicely with its slightly blue-green foliage and are highly attractive to bees.
> For best growth, plant this perennial in full to part sun and fertile, well drained soil. It makes a fine addition to mixed borders and perennial plantings. Dwarf cultivars are well-suited to container plantings.
