Mona Lavender Spurflower, Spurflower
This superb tender bedding perennial was developed at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in South Africa. Mona Lavender® spurflower is evergreen and has thick, fuzzy yet glossy, dark green leaves with bright plum-colored undersides. From fall through spring, it produces small spikes lined with delicate lavender flowers with plum-purple spots. These draw many bees and should be deadheaded regularly.
Spurflower grows well in full to partial sun and requires rich garden soil with ample drainage. Where summers are hot it is best planted in partial sun. This wonderful, trouble-free ornamental is great for containers, mixed floral borders or sunny conservatories.
