RHAPHIOLEPIS indica 'Sopink'(SNOW PINK™) PP14388
Indian Hawthorn
Widely used in warm-climate gardens, Indian hawthorn is a compact broadleaf, evergreen shrub native to southern China. Selected from seedlings raised in Alabama, Snow Pink™ is an improved form of this favorite shrub. It has a mounding habit, moderate to fast growth, and profuse flowering. It has proven to have good cold hardiness, salt tolerance and resistance to leaf spot and fireblight, a disfiguring bacterial disease.
From late winter through spring, 'Sopink' produces abundant clusters of fragrant, pink flowers which may be single or semi-double. The deep green, leathery, glossy leaves remain attractive through winter.
Easy to grow like most Indian hawthorns, Snow Pink (also known as ‘Sopink’) likes full sun and fertile, well drained, slightly acidic soil. It is a great accent plant in the foundation planting, and makes a tidy low hedge or backdrop for a flower border. It can also be grown under glass in cooler areas.
