Family
Rosaceae
Botanical Name
Rosa 'Alister Stella Gray'
Plant Common Name
Alister Stella Gray Hybrid Tea Rose, Hybrid Tea Rose
General Description
Noisette roses such as 'Alister Stella Gray' are prized for their summer-long display of clustered, musk-scented blooms on long, "climbing" canes. They descend from an early nineteenth century hybrid between a musk rose (Rosa moschata) and the China rose 'Parson's Pink'.
Introduced in 1894, 'Alister Stella Gray' (also known as 'Golden Rambler') bears double, creamy-yellow, apricot-centered roses on long, lax, nearly thornless stems. Newly opened flowers are deep yellow. The compound, medium-green leaves have large oval leaflets.
Noisette roses prefer full to partial sun, relatively mild winters, and perfectly drained, slightly acid soil with average to good fertility. Like most roses they are prone to foliar fungal diseases and thus benefit from good air circulation. They are ideal for decorating an arbor, trellis, or wall.
