Rosa 'Andeli'(DOUBLE DELIGHT™) PPAF
Plant Common Name
Double Delight Rose, Hybrid Tea Rose
General Description
It’s hard to say which is better, the knock out fragrance of Double Delight™ or its fully double, lovely red and ivory flowers. This exceptional hybrid tea rose was bred Swim & Ellis and introduced in 1977. Even though it’s an older selection, it’s a tried and true classic that’s still popular in today’s gardens.
This hybrid tea has a bushy habit and stems lined with sharp woody thorns. Its leaves are semi-glossy and deep green. Flowering occurs from early summer through frost, with good care and maintenance. The huge flowers are strawberry red with an ivory center and have as 35 petals each. They are borne in profusion and have a strong, spicy fragrance.
Roses prefer full to partial sun, moderate temperatures and perfectly drained, slightly acid soil with average to good fertility. They grow best in places with slightly dry climates, because such climates disfavor the fungal diseases that plague them. For this reason, it is important to maintain good airflow within and between planted roses through good planting and pruning practices, which will dissuade fungal attacks. Roses are rife with pest and disease problems and Double Delight™ is noted as being disease prone.
Hybrid tea roses are a garden must. They are perfect for sunny foundations, mixed borders and cutting gardens. Especially pretty, floriferous cultivars like this one.
