Family

Rosaceae

Botanical Name

ROSA 'Auswonder'(AMBRIDGE ROSE™) PP8679

Plant Common Name

Ambridge Rose™ Shrub Rose, Shrub Rose

General Description

Fragrant, apricot-pink blooms adorn this compact shrub rose from spring to frost. It was introduced in 1990 by David Austin Roses of Albrighton, England.

This thorny stems of this hardy deciduous shrub are lined with glossy, dark green, pinnate leaves with several oval leaflets. The spherical, pointed, apricot-pink buds open to cupped, flat-topped, fully double roses that fade slightly with age. Plants are compact, growing to about 3 feet (1 meter) high and wide.

Roses prefer full to partial sun, moderate temperatures and perfectly drained, slightly acid soil with average to good fertility. Roses are rife with pest and disease problems. They are particularly prone to foliar fungal diseases and thus benefit from good air circulation. Fortunately, new cultivars are bred to be disease resistant. Ambridge Rose™ is resistant to mildew and blackspot.
