General Description
The pretty, old garden rose (OGR) 'Ducher' also known as Bengale Ducher offers lots of double white flowers. This shrubby china rose is a rebloomer with the first flush of flowers appearing in late spring or early summer.
This medium-sized, bushy rose has strong stems lined with sharp woody thorns. Its compound leaves are leathery and medium green. From late spring to frost, it offers an abundance of long-lasting, white, double flowers which open flat to reveal lots of golden stamens. These are highly fragrant. Everblooming roses such as this will rebloom better if their spent flowers are removed. If left uncut, persistent orange-red hips follow the flowers. In hot climates, roses bloom the most during the cooler winter months and less in summer.
Roses prefer full to partial sun, moderate temperatures and perfectly drained, slightly acid soil with average to good fertility. They grow best in places with slightly dry climates, because such climates disfavor the fungal diseases that plague them. For this reason, it is important to maintain good airflow within and between planted roses through good planting and pruning practices which will dissuade fungal attacks. Roses are rife with pest and disease problems. In fact, there are many common pests and diseases that can harm them.
Shrub roses are a landscape must. They are perfect for sunny foundations, mixed borders and large landscapes. Enjoy these carefree beauties massed in a sweep or planted singly as accent plants.
