Botanical Name
Rosa 'Macrexy'(SEXY REXY™) PP6713
Plant Common Name
Floribunda Rose, Sexy Rexy™ Floribunda Rose
General Description
An upright, free-flowering floribunda rose, Sexy Rexy blooms in flushes from late spring to fall with double (extra petals) pink flowers in generous clusters. Also known as ‘Macrexy,’ this is an upright, deciduous, much-branched shrub with glossy, dark green leaves. The first flush of bloom is abundant and closely-spaced clusters of flowers almost cover the canopy of the shrub
Like most roses, Sexy Rexy grows and flowers best in full sun and average, well-drained soil. It needs a steady supply of nutrients and water. Mulch it with compost, shredded leaves, or composted manure to enrich the soil and conserve moisture. It is a disease resistant rose but practice good sanitation. Water the plant by watering the soil; avoid wetting the leaves. Also, give the plant room so air can circulate and dry the leaves after a rain. To encourage repeated flushes of bloom, remove spent flowers and prune spent stems to a leaf with five leaflets and a bud at its base. A new stem will arise from the bud and bloom as it matures. Use ‘Macrexy’ as a specimen plant in a mixed border, against a south facing wall or fence, grouped to match the scale of a large yard, or for cut flowers.
