Panda Meidiland™ Shrub Rose, Shrub Rose
Introduced in 2003 by Meilland of France, this hardy, disease-resistant "landscape rose" offers a continuous succession of single white blossoms on compact mounded plants. It is a hybrid of the famous Polyantha rose 'The Fairy.'
The thorny stems of Panda Meidiland™ are densely furnished with glossy, dark green, pinnately compound leaves. From late spring to frost, it bears clusters of mildly fragrant white blooms. Each blossom has five to seven petals and a central boss of yellow stamens. The flowers are sterile, producing no fruit.
Roses prefer full to partial sun, moderate temperatures and moist, well-drained, slightly acid soil of average to good fertility. They are particularly vulnerable to foliar fungal diseases and thus benefits from ample spacing and an occasional pruning to promote air circulation. This cultivar is resistant to black spot.
Shrub roses are a landscape must. Excellent as a small-scale groundcover, Panda Meidiland™ also works well in mixed borders, foundation plantings, and containers.
