ROSA 'Morsdag'(MOTHER'S DAY)
Hybrid Tea Rose, Mother's Day Hybrid Tea Rose
Polyantha roses such as 'Mother's Day' are garden classics valued for their compact habit, long season of bloom, and showy clusters of small, mildly fragrant flowers. They trace their ancestry to Rosa multiflora and R. chinensis.
Introduced in 1949 by Grootendorst of Holland, 'Mother's Day' (also known as 'Morsdag') produces sprays of delicate, double, crimson-red flowers that open from cupped buds. This compact, upright shrub blooms from early summer until frost.
This rose is cold hardy and grows best in temperate climates with enough winter chill to allow for dormancy. Like most roses, it prefers full to part sun, moist, perfectly drained soil and good air circulation. Use as a low hedge, in mixed borders, or in containers.
