Rosa 'Wekpaltlez'(HOT COCOA™) PP15155
Floribunda Rose
The unusual roses of Hot Cocoa™ are smoky chocolate orange overlaid with lavender and borne in rounded clusters of four to five flowers. Each large, fully double bloom has a light modern tea fragrance. This vigorous floribunda rose also shows some resistance to powdery mildew and rust. It was first introduced in 2001 by Weeks Roses and hybridized by Thomas F. Carruth of Altadena, California.
Hot Cocoa™ is a woody deciduous shrub with stems lined with sharp thorns. It has a bushy habit, thick, glossy compound leaves of green, and is everblooming. Its fully double flowers are warm chocolate orange and have 17 to 27 petals each. They are produced all season long if plants are given good care.
Roses prefer full to partial sun, moderate temperatures and perfectly drained, slightly acid soil with average to good fertility. They grow best in places with slightly dry climates, because such climates disfavor the fungal diseases that plague them. For this reason, it is important to maintain good airflow within and between planted roses through good planting and pruning practices which will dissuade fungal attacks. Roses are rife with pest and disease problems. Fortunately, newer cultivars like this are bred to be disease resistant.
