Floribunda Rose
Clusters of playful, semi-double roses of white with red edges adorn the 1999 AARS award-winner, Betty Boop. This vigorous floribunda was hybridized by Thomas F. Carruth of Altadena, California and introduced by Weeks Rose Growers. It is relatively low-maintenance and will bloom continuously all season if weather allows.
This hardy rose is a woody deciduous shrub with stems lined with sharp woody thorns. It has a bushy habit, compound leaves that are dark to medium green and is everblooming. Its semi-double (~6 to 12 petals) flowers are ivory with red edges. They medium-sized and borne in abundant clusters.
Roses prefer full to partial sun, moderate temperatures and perfectly drained, slightly acid soil with average to good fertility. They grow best in places with slightly dry climates, because such climates disfavor the fungal diseases that plague them. For this reason, it is important to maintain good airflow within and between planted roses through good planting and pruning practices which will dissuade fungal attacks. Roses are rife with pest and disease problems.
Floribunda roses are a landscape must. They are perfect for sunny foundations, mixed borders and hedges. Especially pretty cultivars like this one.
