RUDBECKIA hirta 'Becky Orange'( BECKY SERIES)
Becky Orange Black-eyed Susan, Common Black-eyed Susan
The super cute ‘Becky Orange’ is a sweet gloriosa daisy best known for its very short stature and heavy flowering. It is easy to grow and offers lots of bright orange daisies throughout most of the summer.
Common black-eyed Susan, also called gloriosa daisy, is a short-lived perennial that originates from North America. It is wonderfully easy to grow and blooms for an extended period of time. Throughout the summer, the compact, clump-forming, short-lived perennial puts forth, thick, leafy stems topped with colorful flowers that attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. The pretty orange daisies are large, considering the plant’s stature, and have dark central cones. Deadhead regularly to encourage continued bloom.
Rudbeckia hirta grows best in full sun and well-drained, average soil. It is prone to root rot and powdery mildew, so space it well to encourage good air flow and allow its soil to dry between watering. This popular ornamental is at home in wildflower gardens, cutting gardens and mixed borders. Like many black-eyed Susans, ‘Becky Orange’ will self-sow gently but its progeny may not be as short as the parent.
