Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
RUDBECKIA hirta 'Sonora'
Common Black-eyed Susan, Sonora Black-Eyed Susan
Sonora black-eyed Susan is a compact variety of this clump forming short-lived perennial. Throughout the summer, it bears many beautiful golden daisies ringed with dark mahogany around their dark eyes. These appear on short, stout stems lined with hairy dark green leaves and attract many pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.
This plant grows best in full sun and well drained, average soil. It is prone to root rot and powdery mildew, so it's best to provide it with good air flow and avoid overwatering. Maya provides superb cut flowers and is ideal for sunny mixed borders. Remove its spent flowers regularly to encourage continued bloom.
