Plant Common Name
Frosty Morn Stonecrop, Stonecrop
General Description
The perfect perennial for providing spring to fall color, 'Frosty Morn' features showy foliage and attractive late-season flowers. A selection of the hardy East Asian native Sedum erythrostictum, it bears beautiful variegated leaves from spring to autumn and large dense clusters of white flowers in late summer and early fall. The small starry flowers have pink carpels at their centers. The oval, fleshy, gray-green, ivory-edged leaves are paired along the upright stems. After the flowers have faded and the leaves have fallen, the brown seedheads remain, offering winter interest.
This relatively large leafy sedum likes fast-draining soil and plenty of sun. Use it on banks and slopes, in large rock gardens, or even in containers so long as drainage is good. The flowers attract bees and butterflies.
