Botanical Name
Spathiphyllum 'Stwentynine'(SENSATION JUNIOR™) PP13283
Plant Common Name
Peace Lily
General Description
Muck like the enormous, clump-forming Spathiphyllum Sensation™, but a little smaller and narrower, Sensation Junior™ also boasts beautiful long, broad, dark green leaves and elegant white blooms. Like all other peace lilies, it is an evergreen perennial that traces its origins to the tropics of the Americans and Southeast Asia.
This disease-resistant cultivar forms lush clumps of extra large, shiny, dark green leaves. Borne on erect stem-like petioles, the broadly lance-shaped leaves have prominent ribbed veins and pointed tips. Like all members of the aroid family, it bears unusual blooms, each with a finger-like floral column (spadix) surrounded by a large petal-like leaf (spathe). These are held just above the foliage atop leafless stems. The snowy blooms are long-lasting and suitable for cutting. They occur mostly from winter to summer.
This highly frost-tender tropical needs protection from cold temperatures, whether grown inside or out. Bright indirect light, high humidity, and evenly moist but well-drained growing medium are ideal. Provide shade from intense sun and water and fertilize regularly. Peace lilies are among the best plants for low-light conditions.
Spathiphyllum Sensation™ is a lovely, low-maintenance landscape plant for the tropics. It's also perfect for indoor or outdoor container plantings.
