SUTERA (ABUNDA™ SERIES)

Image of Sutera (ABUNDA™ SERIES)

Family

Scrophulariaceae

Botanical Name

SUTERA( ABUNDA™ SERIES)

Plant Common Name

Abunda Bacopa

General Description

The wiry, sprawling stems, profuse bloom, and dainty leaves and flowers of Sutera cordata have made it a popular groundcover in warm climates and a popular container plant in almost any frost-free growing condition. The hybrid Abunda™ Series has flowers four times larger than those of the parent species, in shades of blue and white. The flowers are five-petaled, open, held above the stems, and upward-facing.

The plants in this series grow and flower best in full sun, either in containers or in well-drained soil in the garden. In containers, they are useful as spillers and trailers below taller plants. In the garden they mingle nicely in the mixed border as edgers and ground covers. In warm climates they are tender perennials or evergreens.
