TAGETES erecta 'Lady Primrose'( LADY SERIES)
Lady Primrose marigold produces fully double, lemon-yellow, 3-inch (7.5 cm) pompons on sturdy, upright, 14- to 18-inch (35 to 45 cm) stems. This cultivar can be purchased and planted as seed or as nursery-grown seedlings.
A bright and familiar garden annual, American marigold is native throughout Mexico and Central America. The dark green ferny foliage has a distinctive aromatic smell. Plants will continue to bloom while temperatures are warm and favorable. The removal of spent flowers will ensure continued blooming.
Most marigolds grow best in full sun and well drained moderately fertile soil. They are heat tolerant and can withstand periods of drought. These common bedding plants also look great in containers. As an added benefit, research suggests that marigold roots emit a substance that deters root nematodes, so these make fine companion plants for nematode-susceptible vegetables.
