Botanical Name

THUJA occidentalis 'Golden Globe'

Plant Common Name

American Arborvitae, Eastern Arborvitae, Golden Globe Arborvitae, White Cedar

General Description

Bright and uniform, Golden Globe arborvitae is a neat, broadly spherical, dwarf, scaled evergreen shrub originating from eastern North America. This highly popular plant is a residential and commercial landscape staple due to its reliable performance and soft sprays of feathery, golden yellow foliage that covers its branches.

Arborvitae performs best in full to part sun and slightly acidic soil with average drainage. In winter it appreciates protection from severe sun and high winds, which can cause leaf scorch, though this selection is noted for its scorch resistance. Highly versatile, ‘Golden Globe’ is an excellent plant for walkways, in rock gardens, foundation plantings, or mixed borders. Its bright foliage contrasts nicely with deep purple and light blue flowers or foliage.
