Family

Cupressaceae

Botanical Name

THUJA occidentalis 'Hetz Midget'

Plant Common Name

American Arborvitae, Eastern Arborvitae, Hetz Midget Arborvitae, White Cedar

General Description

Compact and reliable, ‘Hetz Midget’ is a neat, spherical, scaled evergreen shrub originating from northeastern North America. This highly popular plant has tight sprays of soft, feathery, rich green foliage covering branches.

Arborvitae performs best in full to part sun and slightly acidic soil with average drainage. In winter it appreciates protection from severe sun and high winds, which can cause leaf scorch. Highly versatile, ‘Hetz Midget’ is an excellent plant for walkways, rock gardens, foundation plantings, or mixed borders. Its roundy moundy shape contrasts nicely with ornamentals with upright, arching or prostrate habits.
