Botanical Name

General Description

Homestead purple verbena is a vigorous short-lived perennial that is native to the eastern United States and Canada. Heat tolerant and everblooming, it develops low spreading mounds of crisp green foliage that become laden with round clusters of small tubular electric purple flowers. These are highly attractive to butterflies and will bloom more profusely is spent flowers are removed. Canadian verbena grows best in well drained, average soil and full sun. It is fast growing and looks great when planted in masses with other free flowering, sun-loving annuals and perennials. It is also suited to containers and hanging baskets.
