WEIGELA 'Minuet'

Image of Weigela 'Minuet'

Grandiflora

Family

Caprifoliaceae

Botanical Name

WEIGELA 'Minuet'

Plant Common Name

Minuet Weigela, Weigela

General Description

A dwarf hybrid of the long-popular deciduous shrub Weigela florida, 'Minuet' packs a springtime punch with its dark pink, bell-shaped flowers and graceful arching habit. It often reblooms sporadically in summer. Hummingbirds find the blooms irresistible and so will you. The oval leaves are purple-tinged.

This extremely cold-hardy cultivar tolerates full sun to light shade and thrives in average soil. It doesn’t require regular pruning, but if you want to shape it, prune in summer after the flowers have faded. This little beauty will add old-fashioned charm tucked anywhere in the landscape, and combines especially well with Catawba rhododendron hybrids.
