YUCCA filamentosa 'Bright Edge'
Adam's Needle, Bright Edge Adam's Needle, Bright Edge Yucca
The beautiful variegated foliage of ‘Bright Edge’ really stands out in the garden.
Adam's needle is a clump forming evergreen perennial that is native to the central and eastern United States and Canada. The cultivar ‘Bright Edge’ has dense clusters of sharp, upright lance-shaped leaves. The leaf edges have a wide yellow band that give this cultivar a sharp clean look in the landscape. In the summer, it bears tall upright flower stalks that are covered with bell-shaped blooms of ivory. Its flowers are fragrant at night and attract moths.
Adam's needle is tolerant of heat, drought, harsh sun, sandy soils and must have perfect drainage for good health. It looks great planted in masses in dry sunny beds and borders, especially if interplanted with an extremely low groundcover, such as a creeping phlox or prostrate juniper. Its coarse, upright foliage is deer resistant too.
