The relatively modest-sized flowers of this 1987 introduction from renowned hybridizer Jac. J. Mense are rich purplish pink with carmine veins and a white central "star." Don't let the common name fool you: like most so-called "amaryllis," this tender perennial bulb is a hybrid of the South American Hippeastrum rather than the South African Amaryllis.
