The dreariness of midwinter diminishes with the appearance of double (extra petaled), deep rose blossoms of ‘Peggy Clarke’. The flowers also displays long stamens that emerge from the mass of petals. The calyx of each blossom - the covering of the flower bud - remains and looks an attractive red. Introduced into the United States in 1941 by plant breeder W.B. Clarke, the cultivar name honors one of his daughters.

A low and rather bushy small tree, the Rosebud Japanese apricot cheers up any garden visitor in midwinter with a profusion of large pink blossoms.
